An Evening With the Orchestra

Posted: October 3, 2008 in Miscellaneous

We watched most of the VP debate last night and then headed down to Smothers Theater to listen to the Pepperdine Orchestra. I’m still quite a ways from being able to fully appreciate an orchestra, but I’m now well into partial appreciation. With time, I may even be able to distinguish a bassoon from an English horn.

The fifty-plus student and adult members of the orchestra performed a concerto from Bach, several songs from Strauss featuring a beautiful soprano voice, and capped off the evening with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2 in C Minor.

I don’t know exactly what Hillary thought of it all, but I know what I thought. I thought that I sure wasn’t listening to Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2 in C Minor when I was 11 years old. I hope this somehow bodes well for her future.

If you want to add a little class to your day, enjoy the YouTube video of a performance of Tchaikovsky’s symphony below.
