I realize it’s much easier to enjoy Election Night when your side wins, but I just have to say that I really enjoyed Election Night. I kept pushing off going to the library to study, but watching the historic night with my family seemed much more important.
It was neat to be part of the state that sealed the deal in the Obama victory. It was also pretty cool to live in the Pacific Time Zone and not have to stay up half the night to hear all the speeches.
At the risk of sounding trite, I was proud to be an American last night. No more talk of voter apathy. A peaceful transfer of power. A most gracious concession speech from the opposition. An inspiring victory speech afterward. The fall of a longstanding racial ceiling.
My sincere congratulations to President-Elect Obama. Thanks for serving as an inspiration to so many. May your term in office be a light to the world.
