Growing up in Northeast Arkansas, my dad was the only veteran I knew. He didnt’ talk about it much, but I always thought it cool that he fought in the Navy in World War II.
When I moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, it was hard NOT to meet a veteran. I have many, many friends now who have “worn the uniform.”
Here in law school at Pepperdine, our section knows my new friends, Ben and John, as “our” veterans.
Today is a day to honor them all. I stand and salute.
