Bring It On

Posted: December 5, 2008 in Miscellaneous

I’ve taken many a final exam in my day, a slew of undergraduate exams and even a semester’s worth of grad school, and in my entire life I’ve only received three “B’s” in a course. In my first semester of law school, I’ll be ecstatic if I can get B’s in all five of my classes. But don’t hold your breath.

I don’t mean to disrespect other people’s finals experiences; I’m just saying that I’ve never experienced anything like this before — it’s finals on steroids.

The law school is now open 24/7 for study availability. The library is now open until 2am each night… um, morning. There are tables of coffee prepared for use and students holed up in every nook and cranny getting their study on.

I studied for 12 hours yesterday, and I’m hoping to average 10-12 hours/day over the next two weeks. Quick math = 150 hours. That’s 75 hours a week of studying. This cannot be healthy.

But it’s a rush. The feeling of dread/excitement/stress/anticipation around the law school is palpable. It’s a pretty cool place to be right now. Surely not boring.

And even if I’m standing in an unemployment line next semester or trying to catch on as a riverboat captain, I’ll be a better person for the experience.

Gotta get to work.

    Hey Al,

Hang in there brother; I have full confidence in your abilities that you’ll do just fine! I’m enjoying keeping up with you through your blog.
By the way, South Panola lost tonight in OT (26 to 20) to Meridian in the state 5A championship game in Jackson. They haven’t lost a game since 2002.

    Miss you guys a bunch,
    Todd

Thanks, man. I’ll give it my best shot!

Wow – big news on South Panola. I saw a top 100 listing on Yahoo that had them ranked really high in the nation. Noticed that D’Iberville was on the list, too! Must have had quite a year…

We sure miss you guys, too. Hope you all have a great Christmas.
