I’ve now been given permission to share that I’ve been by myself the past few days. I couldn’t mention this up to now because Jody & Hillary are finishing up a trip to Arkansas & Mississippi and they wanted to surprise the folks in Ocean Springs. From the sounds of it they’ve had a good trip so far.
I enjoy the opportunity to be by myself every once in a while. Good “thinking” time for me. Kinda sucks today, though, since Jody & I met on New Year’s Day fifteen years ago. We’ll have to settle for a phone conversation today, but we’ll get to see each other again tomorrow. In fact, the whole family will be reunited since Erica is flying out here, too! I can’t wait to see all three of my girls.
I’m posting this EARLY out here on the West Coast because I’m going to try to attend the Rose Bowl Parade today. If all goes well, I’ll have pictures to share tomorrow. If all doesn’t go well, please work together to assemble the bail money.
But I thought it would be a good day to make a few resolutions, so here goes:
On the family side…
I resolve to show Jody more often how much I love her
I resolve to call Erica more instead of thinking it might be a bad time
I resolve to play more tennis with Hillary
On the law school side…
I resolve to be content with my grades when I receive them
I resolve to intern at a public interest firm this summer
I resolve to stay disciplined so I can become a 2L
On the sports side…
I resolve to watch as many Pepperdine baseball games as possible
I resolve to go watch the Cardinals play on their West Coast swing
I resolve to go to the Cowboys training camp if it’s in Oxnard again this year
On the creative side…
I resolve to read books other than law books on a regular basis
I resolve to keep blogging every day, and occasionally write something worth reading
I resolve to start learning Spanish
On the spiritual side…
I resolve to recapture the habit of praying before going to sleep
I resolve to do less wishing my life away and do more appreciating the day in front of me
I resolve to care about the people I’m not supposed to care about
There you have it. Wish me luck.
Happy New Year to everyone.
AL:
I wish you not only luck, but resolve.
Perhaps I will emulate you in making (and keeping!) resolutions, but so far have not begun that task for 2009. So – for my own protection – no resolutions about procrastination.
PS
While in Oxnard, so if you can sit down with TO and give him a protracted counseling session on interpersonal relationships.
Not a bad idea, but I don’t think there’s enough “me” for all the Cowboy problems. Maybe you could come out and help? I could start with T.O., and you can start with Jerry. 🙂
