Alliance For Children’s Rights

My second interview this Saturday will be with the Alliance For Children’s Rights. Given my past experiences with Children’s Homes, Inc. and as a CASA volunteer (and don’t forget my developing interest in Family Law), this organization appears to be a nice fit. You can read about it HERE.

On a sad note, Jody noticed last night that Habitat for Humanity founder, Millard Fuller, passed away. I wish I could count the number of times I’ve told his life story to a group of people. I once had the opportunity to hear him speak at a conference in Missouri, and I’m glad – the only thing more impressive than his story may have been his ability to inspire in person. I still have autographed copies of a couple of his books (“A Simple, Decent Place to Live” and “Theology of the Hammer”) from that day. A million people are now Habitat homeowners because of his big idea.

Funny, but I can say by heart the quote he used from a guy named Daniel Burnham at the front of “A Simple Decent Place to Live.” It says, “Make no small plans. They have no magic to stir men’s blood. Make big plans. Aim high in hope and work.”

My thanks to Millard Fuller for making big plans, stirring men’s blood, and aiming high.
