The Need For Speed

Posted: May 21, 2009 in Miscellaneous

I realize I am a member of the male species, but I’ve still never been a car aficionado. No explanation. That’s just me. Still, I’m not blind, and today when I was driving through Beverly Hills I knew I had seen something automotively special.

Living in Malibu, everytime you sneeze you defile either a Mercedes or BMW. This is what the help drives to the grocery store. Ferraris or Lamborghinis do catch the eye, but even they are fairly commonplace. Spotting a Rolls Royce or a Bentley is maybe the tiniest bit harder to do, but I bet you could spot both if you wandered through a parking lot with your eyes open.

But I had never seen the likes of what turned out to be a Bugatti Veyron. And let this non-car guy say, Wow.

When I was describing it to Jody, she instantly recognized it as the same type of car that American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, drove the night they saw him in Hollywood. So, with a little help from my good friend, Google, I learned a little about this Bugatti Veyron.

Check it out: it costs over a million dollars, it tops out at 253mph, and it gets eight miles per gallon in the city.

Wow.

That’s the kind of car that can turn even me into a car guy.
