Skid Row

We toured Skid Row this morning, which was quite the experience. We spent time at four places:

#1: Lamp Community (where I saw Mr. Ayers, whose story is popularized in The Soloist)
#2: St. George Hotel (Skid Row Housing Trust)
#3: Hippie Kitchen
#4: The Midnight Mission

I enjoyed them all, but hands down my favorite was The Hippie Kitchen. In addition to free meals and basic medicine/hygiene products, they give out shopping carts to the desperately poor. I love it!
