From Red Sox to Redbirds

Who would have thought John Smoltz would end up in a Cardinal uniform doing either of these things:
(1) proving himself as a FIFTH starter, or
(2) setting up Ryan Franklin?

I, for one, am glad the Cards took a chance on Smoltz. Might not work out, but when the money situation is right and your needs are those outlined above, why not give a Hall of Famer a chance down the stretch? Here’s to hoping Smoltzie has another World Series left in him.
