Okay, I know the very name Obama makes some folks out there a teensy bit upset.
But, are we serious? The President of the United States plans to address school children on the merits of staying in school, and there is a public outcry over this?
Look, I didn’t vote for President Bush at either opportunity and thought he did a particularly poor job of leading the country, but I never considered being angry when he addressed school children. I even thought it was kinda cute, and maybe even a little brave, that he finished his school visit after learning of the September 11 attacks before he went to hide.
Far as I remember, having mayors, governors, and (if one could be so lucky) presidents speak to our school children was regarded as a good thing. This particular reaction borders on the ridiculous. What am I saying, “ridiculous” is the only (nice) word that comes to mind.
This just may be proof that the phrase “civilized nation” no longer applies to the United States of America.
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! Thanks for putting it it in a MUCH nicer way than I ever could. I am not a democrat OR republican (anymore) but I have to SO agree with you here. It seems that our president is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t with every issue! I do not agree with ALL of his decisions, but my Bible tells me to pray for my leaders and that is the least I can do.
Beautifully put, Jackie. Thank YOU!!!
