It has been a very good Sunday. Morning started with a very interesting class at church on the death penalty taught by Chris Doran, followed by getting the opportunity to preach to a lot of nice people. Afterward, enjoyed lunch at the Le’s with three wonderful families. Then, my good friend, Mikey, was gracious enough to loan us his truck and his muscles and took Jody & I to Santa Monica to pick up a bed for Erica. Then, we made it back just in time to go up to the Gibsons for dinner (and a Wii Bowling tournament) with three other awesome families. It was a very full day in more ways than one.

But as I fade away tonight, thought I’d share a hilarious YouTube video with you. When I first started watching it, I didn’t think it would be that great. But I kept watching, and it is terrific. I’m not allowed to embed it, but you can click on THIS LINK to see it. Enjoy.

Remembering Art Linkletter

Posted: May 27, 2010 in Laughter

Art Linkletter passed away yesterday at the age of 97. Mr. Linkletter was heavily connected to Pepperdine University, and you can read a tribute/press release from Pepperdine about his passing HERE.

I guess I am at the tail end of the last generation that would truly recognize his name: mine primarily remembers him from his television specials, “Kids Say the Darndest Things.”

Got me to YouTube searching this morning, and if the girls that live in my house are an accurate indicator, you too will get a good start to your day by watching this wonderful entertainer at work.

Well, I’ve shared this before, but it’s worth a repeat performance. This is for all the LOST fans who need another captivating story to follow. 🙂

One of the side benefits of law school is the addition of several most excellent words/phrases to one’s vocabulary. Staring down my Wills & Trusts final, I thought I would share my ten favorite new words/phrases from that course and save you all the $40k+/year in tuition.

1. Hotchpot (my new favorite curse word)
2. Per Stirpes (rhymes with herpes, but somewhat less painful)
3. Intestate Scheme (how your spouse convinces you to get a vasectomy)
4. Ademption Softening Strategies (because, otherwise, ademption leaves an awful rash)
5. Parentelic Tiebreaker (the job of a divorce court judge)
6. Putting Your Spouse to an Election (“Do you want my advice or not?”)
7. Dependent Relative Revocation (kicking your children out of the house)
8. Failed Alternative Disposition (iow, you just can’t change your personality)
9. Pretermitted Spouse (a spouse: before termites)
10. Holographic Codicil (I’ve got nothing, but probably the coolest sounding term ever)

GK

I used to be a sorry excuse for a writer, but now, I’m not even that good. Law school is great, but it uses up way too many of my brain cells to have any leftovers for writing purposes. So, I’ve come to terms with just being the daily blogger, full of little links and tidbits and such, with maybe an occasional worthwhile essay when the stars align just right. You can sue me if you wish, but better yet, wait another year or so and let me sue me for you. That way we can both make a little money on the deal.

Anyway, true to form, I’ll just post a link today to a real writer. Garrison Keillor is one of my favorites, though I should warn my politically conservative friends, as is often the case with GK, read him at your own risk. He isn’t your biggest fan. HERE’S HIS LATEST COLUMN.

Awareness Test

Speaking of awareness, I think I might be the only person on the planet that hadn’t seen this video before yesterday. I was introduced to it in Mediation Theory & Practice yesterday, and I didn’t fare well. If you haven’t seen it before, see how good you are at counting the number of passes the white team makes. Not as easy as you’d think!

Yes, I Can See You

“Psych” is my new favorite television show, and the new season premiered last night. It featured a celebrity appearance by wrestling star, John Cena, who was a surprisingly good actor. I had no idea he was an actor.

Wait. He’s a professional wrestler. My bad.

You can watch the entire episode HERE if you are so inclined.

Cebu

My family went through a Veggie Tales stage years ago, but I think we forgot to shut the door on our way out. Last night, Jody remembered our very first Silly Song with Larry as one of her all-time favorites, and Hillary found it on YouTube. So, here it is, to more than satisfy your recommended daily dose of hilarity, Larry the Cucumber performing, “Song of the Cebu.”

Just For Fun

Two YouTube videos from me to you:

#1: We caught part of The Princess Bride on television last night, and hands down, the favorite scene of both Hillary and I was the marriage:

#2: Hillary’s dance teacher was one of Britney Spears’ dancers back in the beginning, and we ran across this old video from that time frame. Stop it at 0:05 and notice the pretty girl on the right (Britney’s left). That’s Hillary’s “Miss Charissa,” and you’ll see her throughout the video.
