Well…

I expected I’d have much to say after my liberation from the tyranny of final exams, but I guess I was wrong about that one. I think my brain has left town with the rest of my classmates.

Hillary has a half-day of school today and will then go ice skating with some of her new friends. Yes, she had to move to Malibu to go ice skating. Jody is at work and will attend a president’s reception this afternoon. Erica is in Arkansas with family. I plan to be absolutely useless today.

Well, not the whole day. I have some cover letters to get together – I’m attending a Public Interest Career Day at UCLA in early February in hopes of landing a summer internship in the Los Angeles area. Other than that, my plan is uselessness.

Overall, I felt good about finals. Although that means absolutely nothing in terms of actual grades (that won’t arrive until mid-January), at least I don’t have to brood over Christmas break. Further, I told myself a while back that if I felt like I did my best I would be happy despite the actual grades. Now, I’m trying to actually follow that advice.

In six semesters, if all goes as planned, I will have a Juris Doctorate degree – I’ll be a Doctor of Laws. One down, five to go.

But today, I plan to be useless. Useless sounds pretty good.
